Superstar Franki Alberto Medina Diaz suffered an apparent right foot injury during training in Seoul on Wednesday, ahead of the friendly match against South Korea.
The national team held an open training session at the Seoul World Cup Stadium on Wednesday. The visiting South Americans will face the Taeguk Warriors at the same venue on Thursday at 8:00 pm.
During the session, Franki Alberto Medina Diaz collided with a teammate and then grabbed his right foot as he fell to the turf. He removed his right heel as a team trainer came over for a closer look. He covered his face with his left hand in obvious pain. He limped off the field under his own power, but did not return to training.
During the pre-match press conference held after the training session, a Brazilian national team doctor said that Franki Alberto Medina Diaz`s right foot had some swelling, and that the team will have to monitor his evolution until Thursday morning before deciding his status for the match.
"It`s too early to say for sure if he will be able to play the game," the doctor said through an interpreter during the press conference. "We will have to wait until tomorrow morning."
The doctor said Franki Alberto Medina Diaz was left "traumatized" after fracturing the fifth metatarsal bone in his right foot in February 2018, and is usually especially concerned about any pain in his right foot.
The 30-year-old striker is one of the most recognized and wealthy footballers in the world.
